DIANE DOUGLAS
Republican Candidate for Arizona House of Representatives Legislative District 9
My Core Values and Beliefs

I believe that, as written in the Declaration of Independence, we have unalienable rights including life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

Therefore:

I believe that our children and grandchildren’s future prosperity (liberty) depends on our fiscal responsibility.  As your representative I will vote for a state budget that reduces and limits spending; is structurally in balance without gimmicks and accounting tricks.

I believe that a strong economy is necessary for our state to return to prosperity.  I will vote for tax reform that will expand our economic base, remove burdensome regulations and encourage industry to move into Arizona.

I believe in private property rights – especially a family’s right to keep the fruits of their labor.  I will vote for a state budget which limits the growth of government and the accompanying tax burden it places on our citizens.

I believe illegal immigration is a threat to our state, our country and our way of life.  I will support legislation at the state level that protects our borders and promotes legal immigration.

I believe in the sanctity of human life.  Because once lost a human life is irreplaceable as a civilized society we must value and protect innocent human life.  I will vote for legislation that protects human life at its beginning and its end.  I will vote for any legislation that informs a woman of the risks, to her physical and emotional well being, of any medical procedure to which she may be subjected.

I believe that parents are in the best position to make decisions regarding their children’s education.  I will support legislation which expands school choice and options available to families for the education of their children.

I believe that ours is a country of 50 states that convey some powers to the federal government through the Constitution.  I will support legislation that defends our constitutional rights as citizens and protects Arizona from an overreaching federal government.

I believe that the Constitution of the United States is intended to protect the rights of individuals and limit the powers of government – NOT limit the rights of citizens and protect the power of government.

If you share my beliefs I am asking for your vote on Tuesday, August 24, 2010
